Garrett, 8 months

Such an old soul....

Happy Baby. 

When in doubt, I suck my thumb.

I realize I didn't do a 7 month post for Garrett.  Needless to say, life got in the way.  There's no doubt there's a bit of guilt there, but my goal is still to be a "Good Enough Mom", not a Perfect Mom.  Missing a blog post just didn't hit the top of the priority list.

That said, these last 2 months have been explosive when it comes to new tricks for Baby Garrett. Highlights include:

• First tooth, the bottom right.  Followed just 2 days later with the bottom left. 
• He's learned to scoot along the floor while both sitting and army crawl.  He still sticks his little butt in the air trying to get his knees under him, but can't quite figure out how.  I'm sure by the time there are presents under our Christmas tree he'll have mastered motion and no present, nor bow, will be safe from his grasp.
• He's making more and more sounds, and just last week said, "mamamama".  I claim it as his first word.  What Mom says, goes, right?!  Corbin said, "dada" first, so it's only fair.

At the beginning of October we went to Seabrook, and during that weekend Garrett decided he was a newborn and woke up every 2 hours screaming.  To help the rest of the people in the house sleep, we held him and rocked him back to sleep each time.  Many times this led to rocking him until he woke up again.  End result - a baby that "forgot" how to go to sleep without being rocked and decided that waking up a 4:30 am was a good thing.  He was waking up not just for a feeding.  He wanted to party.  It took the time change from daylight savings to totally mess up his sleeping schedule to get back on track.  It's amazing that in that time we've changed our definition of sleeping in to waking up at 6 am. 

Garrett is still the happiest baby we know with constant smiles.  He has begun reaching out for people he wants to hold him.  While a bit bitter sweet, he does this to his primary teacher at daycare, Miss Nubia.  It's never easy to leave him, but knowing he's happy and loves Miss Nubia makes it so much easier.
