Camden, Maine

Our lovely place we called home for 2 weeks. Built in the late 1800s.
We've just returned from a wonderful 2 week trip to Camden, Maine with the "elder" Elliotts.  The reason for the trip was so Mike and his Dad could take a 2 week course in curvilinear furniture making at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship.  While they were in school, Cheryl, Tori, Corbin and I did day trips around town seeing various lakes, beaches, parks and eating our way through the pastry shops.  Several of our outings will be their own blog post, but there many other highlights of our travels that didn't get pictures captured.

Some of the highlights
  • We flew direct to Boston and then drove up to Maine.  The extra early morning and subsequent travel made our little guy pretty tired.  As such, he fell asleep about :10 minutes into the drive to Maine.  Mike and I had visions of grabbing dinner in an iconic Boston restaurant, or at a minimum a cute cafe on the coast en route.  But, with a sleeping kid in the car neither of us had the energy to wake him and deal with the wrath that is Corbin when he's been awaken.  So, we settled for grabbing food to go at a Boston area Boston Market.  At least it had Boston in the name, right?
  • Corbin made it through all travels, without any potty training accidents.  This is despite the fact he told us he had to go to the bathroom the minute (literally!) the cabin door was closed on the airplane when we were leaving.  When we responded,"no" he got not just a little upset, but very angry that we would tell him he couldn't go to the bathroom. We hadn't even gotten to the runway and he was crying--we could feel the people around us thinking, "it's going to be a long day."  Poor kid has never been told he couldn't go to the bathroom. The flight attendant even asked if I wanted the pilot to go back to the gate.  But, once we were able to "roam about the cabin" we've never gotten him out of his car seat so fast.
  • There were plenty of wonderful bakeries in town.  So many, that we had a lovely box of pastries on the counter everyday.  We're all on a diet now.
More to come....
