Last week, a stomach bug went through our day care. Nearly every kid and parent got it though thankfully I escaped. But, Garrett got it twice to make up for it. On one particular night, we had both boys throwing up. I will never know why kids don't throw up during day light hours. We had done 3 loads of laundry before 8:00 am. The good news is that it was a short lived bug and we were up and at 'em the next day.
Last night, the boys were playing and Corbin was spinning around with an airplane, making it fly. Garrett ran into it getting a gash on his head. Not a very bad one, but deep enough he needed stitches or glue. Our neighbor is a pediatrician and always says to call her first since she generally keeps the glue at home (she has 3 little kids). But she had used it so didn't have any on hand. So it was off to urgent care we went. The whole family, at the kids bedtime, because Corbin refused to leave Garrett's side. A formula for success, right?! Let's just say that when you have a 1 hour wait before being seen and it is past both kids bedtime the parents and kids get a little frazzled. Didn't my help that the nurse was trying to parent Corbin, and not very nicely. When he stopped listening and had to be taken out of the room, the nurse referee to him as "that kid". The mama bear then came out in me as I explained "that kid" was my son and he was acting his age, and was being dealt with by his dad and A 5 year old acting like a 5 year old doesn't mean she can be disrespectful toward him. Once the dr came in the tone changed as she has 2 boys of her own the same age. She totally got it.
Garrett did fabulous while they glued his forehead shut and say perfectly still. When we were done, he did ask for m&m's. :).
