This past week we celebrated Garrett's 1st Birthday with close friends and family. Garrett loved his cake, couldn't have cared less about presents and wasn't so sure about the big crowd all of a sudden in his house.
Just in the past couple weeks, he has definitely become more toddler than baby. On the one hand it feels like we brought him home from the hospital yesterday and on the other hand it's hard to remember our family without him in it. He is not quite walking, but cruising all over, and saying "A Dat?" (what's that?). His sing-songy voice is one of the sweetest things ever. In just the last couple of days he transitioned from formula to whole milk without much of a fuss. I just gave Garrett a cup the other day of straight whole milk and he downed it and hasn't looked back. We've also left the bottle behind. I have to admit I got a little melancholy throwing away the bottles tonight. They're pretty worse for wear after both boys but tossing them did feel so final.
Our annual check up proved that he is growing and developing just like he should. The only concern, though minor, is a bit of fluid still in his ear. It's the same ear that failed the initial hearing test when he was first born, but passed the second time. It isn't causing him any problems at this point so we're going to see if it resolves itself by the next check up. He is:
- 22 lbs (50%)
- 30 1/4" tall (75%)
- 18 1/2" head circumference (50%)
